Alain Fischer appointed Chairman of the Vaccine Strategy Steering Committee

Alain Fischer, Professor Emeritus at the Collège de France (Experimental Medicine Chair, 2013-2020), was appointed on December 4, 2020 as Chairman of the Conseil d'orientation de la stratégie vaccinale, reporting to the Ministry of Solidarity and Health.

A former department head at Necker-Enfants malades hospital (pediatric immunology and hematology unit), Alain Fischer headed the Imagine university hospital institute between 2007 and 2016, and has received numerous scientific awards and honors, including the Inserm Grand Prix (2008) and the Japan Prize (2015).

Situated at the crossroads of genetics, immunology and pediatrics, Alain Fischer's work focuses on identifying the genetic and molecular bases of rare diseases, hereditary immune deficiencies (HIDs), causing infectious vulnerability, auto-inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, and sometimes cancers.

Alain Fischer's seven years of lectures at the Collège de France are freely available on the school's website in the form of video recordings. They cover the state of research in many fields: biotherapies, cell and gene therapies, autoimmunity and auto-inflammation, anti-infectious immunity, inflammation and molecular medicine, and the relationship between cancer and immunity. Like all lectures at the Collège de France, these lectures and seminars are aimed at both specialists and the general public.
