Professor of German and Comparative Literature at Columbia University, New York, Mark Anderson is a specialist in German and European modernism. His work focuses on Kafka and other German-Jewish writers of the modern period. He is also interested in post-war Austrian literature, and has translated the works of Ingeborg Bachmann and Thomas Bernhard. He is currently writing a book on W. G. Sebald.
