The symposium will be dedicated to Anne Bertrand*.

*Anne Bertrand, who was to have co-presented the 2 p.m. talk, tragically passed away in the mountains on March 2   2018.

This symposium is dedicated to algorithms in medicine. Its two main areas of interest are the automatic analysis of medical images and the collection and analysis of large-scale data, now made possible by the computerization of patient follow-up. Presentations will bring together researchers and industrialists in imaging and data analysis, with a particular focus on deep learning techniques developed in the field of artificial intelligence, doctors discussing the medical contributions of these new methods, players involved in methods for collecting and exploiting large-scale medical data, and legal experts concerned by the legal issues raised by all these subjects. The symposium will conclude with an analysis of the transformations that will be brought to the radiology profession, followed by a general discussion.

The idea for this symposium arose from a discussion with Dr. Francis Besse, Centre Cardiologique du Nord. The program and proceedings were finalized with the following personalities :

  • Dr Gaspard d'Assignies, Nantes University Hospital
  • Nicholas Ayache, Inria Sophia-Antipolis, Asclepios Project
  • Dr Vincent Barrau, Centre Cardiologique du Nord
  • Stanley Durrleman, Inria/ICM joint project [1] Aramis
  • Bernard Gilly, GenSight Biologics
  • Vincent Guillaumot, Archimed Group
  • Antoine Jomier, Incepto Medical
  • Jerôme Koplioch, General Electric Healthcare
  • Bruno Potier de la Varde, Attorney at the Conseil d'État
  • Bertrand Thirion, Inria Saclay/Neurospin, Parietal project
