Abstract
François-Marie Bréon will introduce the conference by recalling the context of ongoing climate change and the need to limit warming to less than 2 degrees. He will describe the concept of geo-engineering, distinguishing between techniques aimed at limiting the rise in atmospheric CO2 and those aimed at reducing the sun's energy input, thereby partially offsetting the increase in the greenhouse effect, while recalling the importance of taking account of the risks and ethical aspects of climate manipulation.
