Session moderated by François Héran. Each 30' presentation will be followed by a 10' discussion.
Abstract
First, I'll present an overview of the key indicators of success, well-being and equity in the French education system, through the prism of international comparisons. I will then discuss the levers available to improve the situation of schools in France - budgetary trade-offs, the role of headteachers, the attractiveness of the teaching profession, pedagogical practices, care for student well-being and school climate. To do this, I'll be drawing on readings from OECD surveys - PISA, TALIS, and the socio-emotional skills survey - as well as OECD reports.
Noémie Le Donné is Head of the Socio-Emotional Skills Unit at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). She is a graduate of the École nationale de la statistique et de l'administration économique and holds a doctorate in sociology from Sciences Po Paris. She has made significant contributions to large-scale international assessments, including the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) and the Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS), which have influenced education policies worldwide.
