Abstract
The portraits to be drawn in the lecture are those of people who lived during the reign of Zimri-Lim : we will therefore begin by studying this king, who occupied the throneof Mari from 1775 to 1761. Little is known about his life before his victory over Yasmah-Addu, and the circumstances surrounding his death remain obscure. In the meantime, we have a great deal of information on the thirteen years of his reign. In this lecture, we will outline the salient features of the political-military history of the people we will be studying next.
