Abstract
The planetary formation process begins with the appearance of a population of planetesimals. Collisions between these planetesimals gradually lead to the formation of increasingly massive objects, known as protoplanets. These objects can also accumulate dust particles from the protoplanetary disk. Moreover, thanks to giant collisions, protoplanets can merge to give rise to even more massive bodies, some of which have the ability to capture gas from the disk. Planets are the end result of these processes.
