Timothy Gowers will offer a lecture for his first year on " tools of combinatorics ", presenting some of the methods he uses in his research, which come from extremal combinatorics, discrete probability, Fourier analysis, and additive number theory. The seminar will open onto broader topics by questioning the " philosophy of mathematical practice ".
