After obtaining a PhD in Analytical Chemistry at the University of Hertfordshire, Yoann Fagault joined the Evolution and Climate Chair laboratory in 2010. He is technical manager of the organic geochemistry unit dedicated to the measurement of organic compounds preserved in sediments (marine and lacustrine) by liquid chromatography (HPLC) and of the isotope geochemistry unit dedicated to radiocarbon measurements by gas pedal mass spectrometry (AMS). He is actively involved in the development of methods for purifying sample carbon prior to isotopic analysis by AMS. His research focuses on the measurement of small samples (< 100 mg C) such as biogenic carbonates of marine origin (corals and foraminifera), subfossil wood, collagen purified from prehistoric bones, carbonaceous aerosols or specific organic molecules purified by HPLC.
