Mohamed Atta is a researcher at the CEA in Grenoble. He obtained a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Fez (Morocco) in 1989 and a doctorate in biochemistry from the University Joseph-Fourier (Grenoble, France) in 1993 under the supervision of Pr Marc Fontecave. He then did a postdoc under the supervision of Pr Astrid Gräslund in the Department of Biophysics at Stockholm University (Sweden), followed by a postdoc in the Laboratoire de Chimie Organique Biologique at the University of Paris-VI, under the supervision of Pr Andrée Marquet. In 1996, he was promoted to permanent researcher at CEA Grenoble in Dr. Jacques Meyer's team. In 2001, he joined Pr Marc Fontecave's group, where his research focuses on the enzymology of natural product biosynthesis, with a particular interest in the use of S-adenosylmethionine and iron-sulfur centers in enzymatic catalysis. He is currently on sabbatical in Pr Marc Fontecave's laboratory at the Collège de France in Paris (2021-2023).
