Isabelle Peretz is a professor in the Department of Psychology at the Université de Montréal. Her research focuses on the musical potential of the general population, through the study of its cerebral organization, genetic transmission and specificity to language. She has published over 150 scientific articles on the subject, covering a wide range of topics from perception, memory and emotions to production (see www.brams.umontreal.ca/plab for her publications). Dr. Peretz's research is funded by the Science and Engineering Research Council, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, and a Canada Research Chair in Musical Neurocognition. Dr. Peretz is also co-director and founder of the International Laboratory for Brain, Music and Sound Research (BRAMS), affiliated with McGill University and the Université de Montréal.
