Director of INSERM Unit U691, created in 2004 within the Centre interdisciplinaire de recherche en biologie (CIRB) at Collège de France, Catherine Llorens-Cortes is a neuroendocrinologist and neuropharmacologist. Since the beginning of her scientific career, she has been interested in biologically active peptides, and mainly in the enzymes that break down active peptides or participate in their formation. Her early work on endogenous morphines contributed to the development of an anti-diarrheal drug used in pediatrics. Subsequently, Catherine Llorens-Cortes focused her research on the interface between neuroscience and the cardiovascular field.
