Born in Paris on May 22, 1972.

Bénédicte Savoy, a former student at the École normale supérieure (Fontenay/Saint-Cloud), has been Professor of Art History at Berlin Technical University since 2009, where she holds a chair in "Art history as cultural history" (Kunstgeschichte als Kulturgeschichte). She is the author of numerous books, including Patrimoine annexé. Les biens culturels saisis par la France en Allemagne autour de 1800 (Éditions de la Maison des sciences de l'homme, 2003), Nofretete. Eine deutsch-französische Affäre, 1913-1931. In 2018, with Felwine Sarr, she published Restituer le patrimoine africain (Le Seuil/Philippe Rey, 2018). Bénédicte Savoy is a member of the Berlin Academy of Sciences. In 2016, she was awarded the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft.
