On Thursday May 3, the Collège de France welcomed around a hundred high school students from disadvantaged or sensitive areas to its historic site on Place Marcelin Berthelot. On this occasion, the students met young researchers who came to present their professions and careers.
Thursday, May 3: Collège de France welcomed a hundred high school students from disadvantaged neighborhoods
This meeting at the Collège de France followed two off-site lectures given by Prof. Jacques Livage (Chair of Condensed Matter Chemistry, 2001-2009) and Prof. Gérard Berry (Chair of Algorithms, Machines and Languages) in December 2017 and February 2018.
This groundbreaking educational program is part of a 5-year sponsorship agreement signed with the Emerige real estate group. Its aim: to raise awareness of scientific research among young high school students, and to disseminate and promote academic excellence in the exact sciences and the humanities and social sciences among young people.
Convinced that culture and knowledge can change everyday life, Emerige is committed to bringing knowledge closer together, and as such supports the initiatives of the Collège de France.
Welcome and introduction to the meeting by Prof. Marc Fontecave
