The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has awarded the 2018 Sjöberg Prize to Professor Hugues de Thé

Hugues de Thé holds the Cellular and Molecular Oncology Chair at the Collège de France and is a biologist at Hôpital St. Louis.He heads an INSERM/CNRS/U. Paris Diderot research unit at Hôpital St. Louis.

The 2018 Sjöberg Prize worth $1 million was awarded to oncology researchers Zhu Chen, Anne Dejean and Hugues de Thé. They succeeded in curing one of the deadliest forms of cancer with a treatment based on arsenic and retinoic acid. This method shows how cancer research is becoming increasingly targeted thanks to our better understanding of the mechanisms responsible for the disease.
