The Administrator and the entire Collège de France community join in the tribute paid to the victims of the attack on January 7, 2015

In accordance with the wishes of the President of the Republic, the Minister of National Education, Higher Education and Research and the Secretary of State for Higher Education and Research, the Administrator has asked the entire Collège de France community to join together for a minute's silence at noon today, Thursday January 8, in tribute to the victims of the attack in Paris on January 7.the Collège de France flags will be flown at half-mast for 3 days.

The Collège de France associates itself with the message of the Conférence des Présidents d'Université:

"They have targeted a newspaper, its journalists and the police officers protecting them. By attacking them in this way, the assassins also attacked the values of the university, which are naturally those of the Republic, with freedom of expression at the forefront.

They killed journalists, cartoonists and free thinkers, because they were journalists, cartoonists and free thinkers. They wanted to kill a newspaper, to fight thought and words with bullets and blood. This takes us back to the darkest hours of our history.

It's not violence that can defeat freedom, it's free thought that can defeat all oppression.

The Conference of University Presidents and the entire university community share the grief of the victims' families."
