Call for entries
United Nations headquarters in Geneva

re-inst is a doctoral workshop organized by the chair inInternational Law of Institutions at the Collège de France around its research and teaching project.

The doctoral workshop aims to encourage the research of young scholars working on questions of institutionalization, or even re-institutionalization, in International and European law, and in particular on the State, international organizations, global cities, regions, multinational companies, non-governmental organizations, trade unions, religious organizations, scientific institutions and/or any other form of institution (public, private or other) that is or should be involved in the adoption of International and European law and governed, in turn, by that law.

re-inst meets every spring in the form of a doctoral day at the Chair's premises at 3, rue d'Ulm. During this day, doctoral students are invited to present and discuss with their colleagues a chapter of their thesis or an argument they are working on in relation to the subject of the workshop.

The workshop is open, on application, to doctoral students (and young post-docs) in international and European law, both public and private, working on institutional issues in the broadest sense. For methodological reasons, the program is primarily aimed at lawyers, but political scientists, philosophers, sociologists and anthropologists working on these issues in law are also welcome. There are eight places available each year and, although the composition of the group is destined to change from year to year, participation over several years, and in the event of a new application, is not excluded. The workshop is not affiliated to any doctoral school, but a certificate of attendance will be provided, on request, at the end of each session.

The specific theme of the re-instdiscussions will change each year according to the theme of Prof. Samantha Besson's lectures. In spring 2026, the theme of the workshop will be Sovereignties. The lecture notes will be available on the Chair's website at the end of the summer.
