Theories of International Responsibility Law

The result of the first colloquium organized by theInternational Law of Institutions Chair on June 24-25 2021, this book is also the first devoted to the theory of international liability law. It brings together philosophers of liability law and specialists in international liability law. Its tripartite structure corresponds to the three main theoretical challenges raised by the contemporary practice of the law of international responsibility: the public and private nature of the international responsibility of public institutions, its collective and individual dimensions, and the place of fault in it. The volume concludes with a comparative "world tour" of the liability of public institutions in four different legal cultures and regions, at the end of which the project of a common law of international liability is considered and its difficulties debated.
