Prof. Thomas Römer becomes the new administrator of the Collège de France

Prof. Thomas Römer, holder of the chair The Hebrew Bible and its Contexts, is appointed, by decree of the President of the Republic, administrator of the Collège de France as of September1, 2019, following his election by the assembly of the Collège de France. He succeeds Alain Prochiantz.

Thomas Römer is a specialist in The Hebrew Bible and its Contexts in the context of the ancient world, and has held the Chair of The Hebrew Bible and its Contexts at the Collège de France since 2007. An internationally renowned researcher, he is the author of over 350 scientific publications. From a history of religion perspective, his work combines philological and literary analysis of the texts with the history and archaeology of the ancient Near East.
