Mr Jean-Luc Martinez, President-Director of the Louvre, and Prof. Alain Prochiantz, Administrator of the Collège de France
A partnership framework agreement was signed on April 3 between the Musée du Louvre and the Collège de France, by Mr. Jean-Luc Martinez, President-Director of the Louvre, and Prof. Alain Prochiantz, Administrator of the Collège de France. They underlined the shared scientific and cultural destiny that has existed between the two institutions for almost two centuries, and spoke of the many projects currently underway. Professor Thomas Römer outlined future collaborations, notably between the Institut des Civilisations, which he heads, and the departments of the Louvre.
The partnership agreement formalizes the cooperation between the two institutions, which are committed to intensifying their relations, in particular through the development of scientific collaborations based on research carried out by teams at the Musée du Louvre and those of the Collège's chairs, libraries and laboratories: conferences, symposia and study days; joint research projects; organization of events highlighting current research to the general public, such as the European Heritage Days; organization of exhibitions, including one devoted to the excavations at Ugarit, to be held at the Musée du Louvre from June 26, 2019 to December 2, 2019.
In parallel, on April 4, a study day entitled Le Collège de France et le musée du Louvre. Les chaires d'esthétique et histoire de l'art is organized at the Collège de France, as part of the Passage des disciplines research project, directed by Pr Antoine Compagnon.
