Tribute to Ernest Renan
2012 marks the 150th anniversary of Renan's famous opening lecture at the Collège de France, and the 120th anniversary of his death. Taking advantage of this double commemoration, the Collège de France pays tribute to one of its great names by retracing the stages of his life and examining his scientific and literary work. Through his personality, all the great questions of the 19th century come to the fore, as well as the ever-present question of the scientist's place in society.
