There's hardly any need to stress the benefits of reducingCO2 using solar energy, either directly or indirectly, so as to produce "solar fuels". As an example of molecular catalysis in general, let's take the electrochemical conversion of CO2 to CO by simple or less simple iron porphyrins, which the electrode will generate at oxidation state 0.
