" Measuring glaciers " : meeting with Fanny Brun

Fanny Brun

OnDecember12 , at 6 pm , Fanny Brun, glaciologist and winner of the Collège de France Award 2024, will be talking in public at the Collège de France with Natacha Triou, producer of the program La science, CQFD on France Culture.

A 33 year-oldscientistspecializing in Himalayan and Alpine glaciers, Fanny Brun is a research fellow at the Institut de recherche pour le développement (IRD) within the Institut des géosciences de l'environnement.

She is developing an original approach to glaciology, based on multi-scale observations using satellite imagery, confronted with in situobservations thanks to measurement campaigns.

Fanny Brun will take this opportunity to explain the meaning and scope of her scientific work, which involves documenting glacier evolution and understanding the mechanisms behind it. Glaciers have become the most spectacular markers of climate change, and it is predicted that half of them will disappear by the end of the century.

In 2024, the Collège de France Award for Young Researchers was presented to Fanny Brun in recognition of the excellence of her career and the innovative nature of her contributions to public research.
