Françoise Héritier received a special Femina award for her body of work

She was awarded the prize on November 8, 2017.

Françoise Héritier held the Comparative Study of African Societies chair from 1982 to 1998, succeeding Claude Lévi-Strauss. She directed the Laboratoire d'anthropologie sociale at the Collège de France, was Director of the EHESS, Member of the Conseil consultatif national d'éthique and President of the Conseil national du sida. She is currently an honorary professor.

Her books include Sel de la vie, Deux sœurs et leur mère and Masculin/Féminin. She was shortlisted for the Prix Femina essai with her new book Au gré des jours, just published by Odile Jacob.
