European Heritage Days 2021

On the occasion of the European Heritage Days on September 18 and 19, 2021, the Collège de France will be opening its doors to visitors for an itinerary that will enable them to appreciate the rich history and diversity of its heritage, and to discover the exhibition Le papyrus dans tous ses États, de Cléopâtre à Clovis, inaugurated on this occasion.

Free of charge and open to the general public, the exhibition in the grand foyer of the Collège de France features some sixty items dating from ancient Egypt to the early Middle Ages, presenting the history of what for several millennia was the essential medium for writing throughout the Mediterranean region.

The assembly room of the Collège de France, where the deliberations of its professors take place, will be exceptionally open to the public during these days, and the public will be able to discover unique objects, paintings, books and manuscripts drawn from the establishment's precious collections. They will also be able to purchase The Collège de France Publishing Department books and various souvenir items from the temporary boutique set up for the occasion.

The European Heritage Days will be held at the Collège de France, 11 place Marcelin-Berthelot - 75005 Paris on September 18 and 19, 2021, from 10 am to 6 pm.

Admission free without reservation, subject to availability and sanitary conditions. Accessible to wheelchair users.

The exhibition Le papyrus dans tous ses États, de Cléopâtre à Clovis takes place thanks to the support of BRED, in partnership with Télérama and L'Histoire magazine .

In line with government instructions, presentation of the health pass is essential to attend lectures, events and tours for all people aged 18 and over. This obligation will be extended to all persons aged 12 and over from September 30, 2021. Children aged 11 and over must wear a mask.
