Encounter with Mary Shelley's Frankenstein or the Modern Prometheus

On May 18, Prof. Alain Prochiantz's Morphogenetic Processes Chair is organizing a meeting to celebrate the bicentenary of Mary Shelley's novel Frankenstein or the Modern Prometheus.

"Two hundred years ago, Mary Shelley's novel was published. From the imagination of a 19-year-old girl, a myth was born. Its dazzling success has blurred its identity to the point where we often no longer know what Frankenstein is: the creator or the creature? And when you say the name, Boris Karloff's head immediately pops into your brain, an image that obscures the spirit and letter of Mary Shelley's text. Yet we also have a vague feeling that this novel is still about us, and our scientific and technical destiny. The best thing to do is to take a look at it: that's why our guests, who all have a special relationship with Frankenstein or the Modern Prometheus, will come and leaf through it with us, to raise once again the questions of today that were laid down in it."
