Death of Pr Xavier Le Pichon

The Administrator, the Board of Professors and the entire Collège de France community are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Xavier Le Pichon, Professor Emeritus at the Collège de France, who held the Chair of Geodynamics from 1986 to 2008. They pay tribute to the professor and pioneer of research into the expansion of the ocean floor and continental drift, from the understanding of the global functioning of our planet to the study of its local expressions such as earthquakes.
