Science and technology are under debate in society. The symposium aims to identify the conditions for rational and constructive debate between scientists, politicians, economic players and ordinary citizens. It aims to better define the role expected of scientific communities in democratic debate. The symposium will review the experience of some emblematic debates and the methods explored to synthesize scientific knowledge and uncertainties, questions and proposals from society. With this in mind, it will analyze the role of scientists and the role of the media with regard to public opinion.
