Collège de France, associate member of PSL University

november 19, 2019

Thomas Römer, Administrator of Collège de France, and Alain Fuchs, President of Université PSL, signed the partnership agreement between the two establishments on Tuesday, November 19, 2019. It sets out the institutional relations and scientific collaborations between Collège de France and Université PSL, of which it is an associate member.

The decree creating Université PSL and the statutes of this new institution were published in the Journal officiel on November 6, 2019.

The decree recognizes PSL as a full-fledged university, formed by the merger of 9 component institutions (Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique, École nationale des chartes, École nationale supérieure de chimie de Paris, École nationale supérieure des mines de Paris, École normale supérieure, École pratique des hautes études, ESPCI Paris, Observatoire de Paris, Paris-Dauphine), 2 associate members (Collège de France, Institut Curie) and 3 research organizations (CNRS, Inserm, Inria). While the Collège de France is a full member of the new institution, the President of Université PSL has a seat on the Collège de France Board of Governors.

On the occasion of the signing of the agreement, Prof. Thomas Römer recalled that Collège de France had been an active participant in the PSL adventure since the creation of the Fondation Paris Sciences et Lettres, which prefigured its scope, in April 2010. He also emphasized the extent to which the framework provided by this agreement and the status of associate member granted to Collège de France would enable it to contribute actively to the operation of the bodies and scientific excellence of the new university, while preserving the specific characteristics of Collège de France.
