Claire Voisin winner of the 2019 L'Oréal-UNESCO International Award for Women in Science in Europe

The Collège de France is delighted with the success of Claire Voisin awarded the 2019 L'Oréal-UNESCO Prize for Women in Science.

Professor Claire Voisin, holder of the Algebraic Geometry chair, is the 2019 winner of the L'Oréal-UNESCO Pour les Femmes et la Science pour l'Europe international prize. She is recognized for her outstanding work in algebraic geometry. Her pioneering discoveries have enabled her to solve fundamental questions on the topology and Hodge structures of complex algebraic varieties.

The other winners of the 2019 edition of the prize are Professors Najat Aoun Saliba (Africa and Arab States), Maki Kawai (Asia-Pacific), Karen Hallberg (Latin America) and Ingrid Daubechies (North America).

Each year, the L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Prize rewards five eminent women researchers from five regions of the world for their outstanding contributions to the advancement of science.

This year, the L'Oréal Foundation and UNESCO have chosen to open their awards to two new fields of research: mathematics and computer sciences.
