Arnaud Roffignon has spent most of his career at the French Ministry of Culture, where he was Deputy Secretary General between 2016 and 2020, as well as at the public establishments under the Ministry's authority : Centre des musées nationaux and Institut national de recherches archéologiques préventives - an establishment under the dual authority of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, which he headed from 2010 to 2013. Until May 2022, he was deputy chief of staff to Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin, Minister of Culture, responsible for the Ministry's recovery, budget, taxation and transformation.
On taking up his new post, Arnaud Roffignon commented : " I am delighted to be joining such a prestigious and exceptional institution as the Collège de France. Fully committed to research excellence and the dissemination of knowledge, it is a major player in the democratization of science and culture. Under the impetus of its administrator Prof. Thomas Römer and his professors, and with the support of all the establishment's staff, I hope to continue developing the Collège de France's major missions, and to contribute even further to ensuring its influence and its contribution to public research, the promotion of knowledge and the fight against misinformation ".
