It was during an international colloquium in Stresa in October 2004, devoted to the new poverties of the 21st century, that the Senator for Seine-Saint-Denis, Mr. Jack Ralite, and Professor Carlo Ossola, holder of the Chair of Modern Literatures of Neolatin Europe, came up with the idea of a joint project : Les Lundis du Collège de France à Aubervilliers.
Unanimously approved by the Collège de France assembly, this project took shape in 2006 with an agreement between the Aubervilliers town council and the Collège de France. The aim of the agreement is to relocate some of the Collège's readings to thematic conferences, thus opening up opportunities to share ideas on themes of universal significance and capable of fostering dialogue between civilizations.
Scheduled at 7 p.m. every five weeks at different venues in Aubervilliers (Lycée Technique Le Corbusier, Théâtre de la Commune, Théâtre Equestre Zingaro, Espace Fraternité and Eglise Notre-Dame-des-Vertus), these free lectures attracted between 200 and 300 audiences each time. Each lecture was followed by a show, usually musical, but also dance or theater, performed by students from the Conservatoire national de région d'Aubervilliers-La Courneuve or by the " Cité Musique " or by the Aubervilliers youth office and the theater group from the Lycée Le Corbusier.
Over the past two years, literature and philosophy teachers from Lycée Le Corbusier and their students have been actively involved in the project, carrying out targeted studies : preparation, interviews with speakers, pedagogical work around the chosen themes.
