Founded in 2015 by Jean-Marie Chevalier (Université Paris-Est) and Benoit Gaultier (University of Zurich), who were respectively Senior Lecturer and ATER at the Chair, the GRÉ is currently co-directed by Jacques-Henri Vollet (Collège de France) and Jean-Marie Chevalier.

This research group, currently made up of some twenty researchers working in France, Switzerland, Italy and England, brings together some of the best French and French-speaking epistemologists.

The GRÉ is the only French academic forum in which French-speaking epistemologists can confront their research with that of their peers, and present and discuss its central points and difficulties.
