Biography

Henri Wallon was born in Paris on June 15 1879. He died on December 2 1962.

Education and professional career

  • 1899 : École normale supérieure
  • 1902 : Agrégation in philosophy
  • 1902-1903 : Teacher at Bar-le-Duc high school
  • 1903-1906 : Boarder at the Fondation Thiers
  • 1908 : Prepares medical thesis on delusions of persecution
  • 1908-1931 : Assistant to Jean Nageotte at Bicêtre and then at La Salpêtrière
  • 1922 : Lecturer in psychology at the Sorbonne and practices medical-pedagogical consultations
  • 1922 : Creates a child psychobiology laboratory at Boulogne-Billancourt
  • 1925 : Submits thesis
  • 1925 : Director of studies at the Ecole pratique des hautes études
  • 1927 : President of the French Psychological Society
  • 1929 : Professor at the Institut National d'Orientation Professionnelle
  • 1937-1949 : Professor at the Collège de France, Chair of Child Psychology and Education
  • 1948 : Founded Enfance magazine with Hélène Gratiot-Alphandéry
  • 1949 : Honorary Professor at the Collège de France
  • 1952 : Teaching chair in Krakow
