Abstract

A portrait is born from the convergence of many stories forming an event of an extraordinary nature. Miraculously, an archaeological dig leads to a discovery. An artist's ambition leads him to leave painting and embark on a conceptual performative work. An imperial museum in its infancy comes into possession of objects that will eventually constitute its most precious collection. The architectural fabric of a necropolis is destroyed by archaeological practice and the local population. Finally, a group of workers in a remote province find themselves in front of a camera lens for the first time in their lives.

We are in Saïda, Lebanon, in 1887. Nothing can stop this event from happening.
