Karen Avraham

Karen Avraham is Full Professor at the Department of Human Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry and Vice Dean at the Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University. She is the incumbent of the Drs. Sarah and Felix Dumont Chair for Research of Hearing Disorders at Tel Aviv University. Dr. Avraham was awarded the Bruno Memorial Prize, the TEVA Prize for Groundbreaking Research in the Field of Rare Diseases, and the Teva Founders Prize on Breakthroughs. She is President of the Scientific Committee of the Foundation for Hearing, based in Paris, and of the Israel Society for Auditory Research. Her work focuses on the molecular and genetics bases of hearing including research on the genetic causes of hearing loss, epigenetics in the peripheral auditory system and developmental principles.
