This symposium organized by Esther Duflo, Professor of Economics at MIT and co-founder of J-PAL, in collaboration with the Innovations, Données, Expérimentations en Éducation (IDEE) program, marks her year of teaching as part of her Povertyand Public Policies chair at the Collège de France, and closes the Agir pour l'Education 2023/2024 conference cycle.
The French education system is facing major challenges, from the decline in mathematical skills over the past thirty years to the growing learning gap between children from disadvantaged backgrounds and their more privileged peers. Although many innovative programs have been developed in response to these challenges, both in France and internationally, few have been rigorously evaluated, which limits the spread of the most effective programs across the country.
With this in mind, this symposium brings together international researchers from a variety of disciplines to discuss educational experimentation and translational research, essential tools to support the development of effective educational policies.
The day will be simultaneously translated from French into English and from English into French.
The IDEE program is funded for eight years (2021-2029) by the French National Research Agency (ANR) as part of the "Investissements d'avenir" program, whose reference is: ANR-21-ESRE-0034.
The initiative is supported by the Fondation du Collège de France and its patrons.
