Symposium

Durkheim at the Collège de France

from to

The colloquium on June 6 and 7 2019 was organized by Antoine Compagnon, Pierre-Michel Menger and Éric Brian (EHESS), as part of the " Passage des disciplines : histoire globale du Collège de France, XIXe-XXe siècle " project, with the support of PSL Research-University and the République des Savoirs. Its aim was to study the vast picture formed at the Collège and beyond by knowledge developed from Durkheim's ideas, or in contradiction with them, under the heading " sociology " or not. The difficult reception of Durkheimian sociology at the Collège makes the latter an ideal vantage point for renewing the study of the reception of Durkheim's ideas, and of the epistemological and philosophical stakes attached to his work in the formation of the humanities and social sciences, from the end of the 19th century to the present day. Conversely, examining the reception of Durkheim's ideas at the Collège can help to renew the study of the disciplines taught at the Collège in relation to excluded knowledge.
