After studying art history, philosophy and architecture in Hamburg and Paris, Niklas Maak joined the editorial staff of Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, becoming its architecture critic. A visiting professor at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design and Frankfurt's Städelschule, he designed the Countryside, the Future exhibition with Rem Koolhaas, to be presented at New York's Guggenheim Museum in 2020. His publications include Le Corbusier: The Architect on the Beach (Hirmer, 2011) and Living Complex: from Zombie City to the New Communal (Hirmer, 2015), Technophoria (Hanser, 2020), as well as works of fiction such as Fahrtenbuch: Roman eines Autos (Hanser, 2011).
