Abstract

The extraordinary development of sporting performance, which continues to break records and always seems to be pushing back the physical limits, is based on an increasingly detailed knowledge of physiology and the human body. But what do we know today about the research that goes into training athletes ? How far can the quest for performance go ? This round table will examine :

  • physiological adaptations and cellular mechanisms in response to physical exercise ;
  • whatsports biology has to say, to shed light on and validate training and recovery practices ;
  • theuse of biomarkersin sports biology ;
  • the role of sport as a means of maintaining good health, but also as a non-drug therapy in the context of chronic pathology ;
  • the sports biology researcher's approach to scientific ethics and integrity.
