Recording growth rhythms in teeth without destroying them : applications of synchrotron X-ray imaging

The seminar "Accessing the record of growth rhythms in teeth without destroying them: applications of synchrotron X-ray imaging", presented by Paul Tafforeau (ERSF, Grenoble), outlined the spectacular progress made in the field of virtual histology thanks to synchrotron technology, while highlighting the methodological and technical difficulties that limit our ability to reconstruct growth rhythms in fossil forms from their dental tissues.
