Abstract

Davide Gabrielli is one of the five authors who, in the early 2000s, introduced the theory of macroscopic fluctuations, which provides a means of calculating the functions of large deviations in density and current for diffusive systems. After a review of the main ideas and mathematical tools for understanding this theory, he analyzed the limit of a strong field, making the connection with known results for non-diffusive systems such as the asymmetric exclusion model.
