The seminar aims to define possible anthropological approaches to the Osirian image, considered within the general framework of a study of the functioning of the image as it has been developed in modern anthropology and as it has also been implemented, in recent Egyptological work, for the Egyptian image. Based on these current questions, the aim is to analyze documentation from the Pharaonic era through specific case studies, using a scholarly approach from the iconographic, philological, archaeological and historical points of view.

Following on from the previous year's inquiry into the powers of the Osirian image, this year's seminar is devoted to the functioning of the image as a " substitut ".

Knowledge of ancient Egyptian essential.
