The lecture was illustrated by a seminar entitled "Papillomaviruses, from cervix to skin" given by Professor Gérard Orth (Institut Pasteur), an international expert and pioneer in the field of oncogenesis induced by these viruses. Several key points were raised during the seminar, including genetic susceptibility to viral development, priority targeting of stem cells during cutaneous infection, and the molecular mechanisms of oncogenesis. A lively discussion ensued on the relevance of HPV vaccination in preventing cervical cancer in an environment where women's gynecological care remains inadequate.
