This year's lecture concluded with an international symposium in English, entitled " Zoonoses and emergence of new infectious diseases: biology meets anthropology ". A highly original and exciting event in many respects, this symposium was organized jointly by the Chair of Anthropology of Nature (Frédérick Keck and Philippe Descola) and the Chair of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (Philippe Sansonetti) on the theme of "zoonoses and emergence of new infectious diseases", from the original angle of understanding human behavior in the emergence of infectious diseases, hence its title: " Zoonoses and emergence of new infectious diseases: biology meets anthropology ". This symposium was also co-organized as part of the Collège de France/Peter Wall Institute for Advanced Studies (University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada) initiative, which I am leading with Professor Janis Sara, Director of PWIAS, in close collaboration with Professor Brett Finlay.

Biography

Dominique Kérouédan is a doctor, economist and specialist in North-South cooperation. She is a professor at Science-Po and this year held the "Knowledge against poverty" chair at the Collège de France. She has worked hard to set up methodologies for implementing and monitoring the "Millennium Goals". In a fascinating seminar, she analyzed the reasons for the successes and failures of French- and English-speaking African countries, whose economic development and health parameters she closely follows.
