Abstract

The Bibliothèque de la Pléiade, one of the most prestigious collections in French publishing, was launched in 1931 by Jacques Schiffrin, with a volume devoted to Charles Baudelaire. To date, it counts 227 authors and 750 titles, and plays an important role in the consecration of many authors. In this talk, we'll retrace its genesis and some of its milestones, and look at what this collection has to say about our relationship with literature.
