Abstract

The future of the university has been a topical issue ever since the first institutions were founded in the twelfth century, and one that has subsequently arisen at different conjunctures. For several years now, we have been witnessing important new impulses. On the one hand, there is the need to respond to the fundamental changes brought about by the events of 1968, i.e. openness, democratization, mass university... depending on one's interpretation. On the other hand, internationalization - particularly international comparison, but also international competition - is shaping debates on the future of the university.
