Abstract

Light-matter interactions are part of the basic processes of life and matter. They are involved in plant photosynthesis, in our perception of colors and in many modern technologies (optical fibers, medical probes, etc.). Quantum physics and its recent developments have made it possible to highlight and observe new phenomena linked to these interactions, particularly in total darkness.

Thomas Ebbesen's current work aims to better understand these phenomena, known as " strong light-matter coupling ", and to explore their consequences for the properties of molecules and materials.
