While regulation of gene expression is an essential aspect of development, it is also an integral part of cancer transformation. Gene transcription is subject to multiple regulations, the main principles of which were outlined. The lecture then focused on the detailed study of a particular transcription factor, P53. This protein, which plays a central role in cancer, acts primarily through the control of gene expression. As a result, it is probably one of the most studied transcription factors, in its most diverse aspects. In particular, the analysis of point mutants in vivo, using "knock-in" approaches in mouse models, has been particularly advanced, making P53 a model transcription factor.
