This year's lecture was devoted to the character of the Pharaoh and his literary staging, deliberately excluding what comes under the heading of the official " royal narrative " : relations of military campaigns presenting the king in the guise of the heroic strategist, religious and political ceremonies, and so on. This aspect of royal literature has been addressed by Anthony Spalinger, visiting professor at the Collège de France in June 2019, in four lessons, which will be published in Études d'égyptologie [1].
